Leaving the Navy as it shaped up for the monumental struggle ahead, let us turn to the events aboard an Esso tanker at sea during the U-boat invasion. Able Seaman John J. Forsdal of R. P. Resor was aboard the 12,875 ton merchantman when she fell prey to an enemy submarine. It was during her fifty-sixth voyage to the United Kingdom, and Forsdal was one of her few survivors.
